As the summer transfer window progresses, Manchester United finds itself at the center of exciting developments regarding potential new signings, particularly concerning Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo and Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon. Following the acquisition of Brazilian Matheus Cunha from Wolves for a hefty £62.5 million, United's ambitions appear to be escalating as they prepare for the forthcoming 2025/26 season.

With the Premier League campaign set to kick off on August 17, where United faces Arsenal, the club's management is keenly aware of the ticking clock, as the transfer window closes on September 1. United's management, led by Ruben Amorim, is actively scouring the market for promising talent to bolster their squad ahead of a challenging season.

In the latest update, Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly made a significant decision about his future, which could provide a considerable boost for Manchester United. According to reports from football.london, Mbeumo has opted to join United, turning down an approach from Tottenham Hotspur in the process. The North London club had hoped that the presence of former Brentford manager Thomas Frank could sway Mbeumo's decision in their favor, but it seems United's efforts are set to pay off.

The indications suggest that a transfer deal for Mbeumo is nearly finalized, with only a medical examination standing between the player and his move to Old Trafford. The Manchester Evening News has reported that United is close to securing Mbeumo's signature after making a second bid, which is believed to be around £63 million for the talented Cameroonian international.

Alongside Mbeumo, Manchester United has also received a positive update regarding striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. Recent reports from The Mirror indicate that Gyokeres has expressed a strong preference to join United, which marks a shift from his previously stated interest in signing for Arsenal. With Arsenal now seeming to pivot towards RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko as a target, United is emerging as a more likely destination for the Swedish forward.

Despite holding a substantial €100 million (£85 million) release clause in his contract, it is believed that Gyokeres could be available for around £60 million this summer. Notably, he has already rejected an attractive offer from Saudi Arabia, reaffirming his commitment to remaining in European football as he seeks a new challenge.
