Michael Madsen, the renowned actor celebrated for his roles in various Quentin Tarantino films, has tragically passed away at the age of 67. The Chicago-born star was reported to have died on Thursday morning from cardiac arrest, according to his manager, Ron Smith. Madsen was found unresponsive in his Malibu, California home, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Watch Commander, Christopher Jauregui. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Madsen's illustrious career spanned over 40 years, featuring appearances in a myriad of critically acclaimed films. Some of his most notable works include 'Thelma and Louise,' 'Free Willy,' 'Donnie Brasco,' and 'Sin City.' However, he is perhaps best known for his collaborative projects with director Quentin Tarantino, who cast him in several pivotal roles across his films such as 'Reservoir Dogs,' 'Kill Bill: Vol. 2,' 'The Hateful Eight,' and 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.'

Following the news of his passing, tributes began to pour in from the film industry and beyond, highlighting the profound impact Madsen had on Hollywood. Director Joe Russo shared a poignant image of Madsen in 'Reservoir Dogs' on social media, praising him by stating, “Michael Madsen ALWAYS had bite. RIP.” A heartfelt statement released by his managers, Susan Ferris and Ron Smith, along with publicist Liz Rodriguez, referred to him as “one of Hollywood's most iconic actors.”

The statement further noted Madsen's recent endeavors in the independent film sector, mentioning several upcoming projects he was excited about, including feature films titled 'Resurrection Road,' 'Concessions,' and 'Cookbook for Southern Housewives.' In addition, he was in the process of finalizing a new book entitled 'Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems,' which is currently being edited.

Reflecting on his journey in the film industry during a handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in November 2020, Madsen shared a nostalgic moment about his early days in Hollywood during the 1980s. He recounted his feelings as he walked around Hollywood, wondering if he would ever become a part of that world. He expressed gratitude, stating, “I could have been a bricklayer. I could have been an architect. I could have been a garbage man. I could have been nothing. But I got lucky. I got lucky as an actor.” His legacy and contributions to film will undoubtedly be missed by many.
