In a significant development in the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, a recent satellite image released by a Chinese firm has unveiled extensive damage at Pakistan's Nur Khan airbase. This military installation, located in Rawalpindi, is in close proximity to the headquarters of the Pakistan Army and serves as a critical node for the country's air mobility command.

The strike, executed by the Indian Air Force as part of Operation Sindoor, occurred between May 8 and May 10, 2025. Reports indicate that the precision attacks were designed to incapacitate key infrastructure and ground support vehicles stationed at the airbase. The release of these satellite images by the Chinese company MIZAZVISION highlights the repercussions of the operation, which has drawn attention not only for its military implications but also for its symbolic significance in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

Intelligence sources have revealed that the Nur Khan airbase houses crucial military assets, including Saab Erieye airborne early warning systems, C-130 transport aircraft, and IL-78 refuelling planes. These systems are essential for surveillance, logistical operations, and aerial coordination, especially in the context of cross-border engagements. The airbase plays a pivotal role in Pakistan's drone warfare strategy, facilitating the launch of Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones and indigenous Shahpar-I drones utilized in operations against India.

Furthermore, the importance of the Nur Khan airbase is underscored by its function in training elite pilots and accommodating VIP fleets, including the aircraft used by the President of Pakistan.

In addition to the damage at Nur Khan, more satellite images released by an Indian firm, KAWASPACE, indicate severe damage to Pakistan's Bholari airbase, which was also targeted during the Indian strikes. These images reveal significant structural damage to one of the hangars, with debris scattered around, raising concerns about the base's operational readiness and quick reaction capabilities.

On May 10, following the strikes on the Rahim Yar Khan airbase, which is located in Pakistan’s Punjab province, the airfield's sole runway was declared non-operational for at least a week. A 'notice to airmen' (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has confirmed that the runway will remain closed until 4:59 AM Pakistan time (5:29 AM IST) on May 18, 2025. This closure not only affects military operations but also civilian air traffic, illustrating the broader implications of the recent military actions in the region.

As tensions continue to escalate, the international community watches closely, concerned about the potential for further conflict and its impact on regional stability.
