Imagine walking into a room and finding over a hundred empty beer bottles, a clear sign of a life spiraling out of control. This was the heartbreaking scene that greeted a young boy in Thailand when he discovered his father, 44-year-old Thaweesak Namwongsa, unconscious amidst the remnants of a month-long alcohol binge.

Namwongsa was reportedly living on nothing but beer, refusing any food despite his son’s desperate attempts to provide a hot meal each day. The 16-year-old son found his father after returning home from school only to discover him having suffered a seizure, a stark reminder of the dangers that come with excessive drinking. Paramedics rushed to the scene in Ban Chang district, Rayong, Thailand, but tragically, they were too late. Namwongsa was pronounced dead before rescue workers could save him.

In the aftermath, officials found over 100 empty beer bottles carefully arranged on the bedroom floor, with a narrow path cut out to allow Namwongsa to navigate through the chaos. It’s believed that his heavy drinking began after his divorce, a painful transition that perhaps led him to substitute food with alcohol as a coping mechanism. No autopsy results have been released yet to determine the exact cause of death, but it’s suspected that the excessive alcohol consumption played a significant role.

This tragedy adds to a recent series of alcohol-related incidents in the region, where at least six individuals lost their lives after consuming toxic homemade liquor infused with dangerous chemicals in Bangkok. These incidents serve as grim reminders of the often-overlooked dangers of alcohol abuse.
