What would you do if you were charged $120 for an omelette? Shockingly, that's exactly what happened to a social media influencer at the renowned Raan Jay Fai in Bangkok, sparking outrage and an official investigation!

The Department of Internal Trade is diving headfirst into this controversy, aiming to uncover whether this Michelin-starred restaurant illegally overcharged a customer for their famed crab omelette. This comes after reports revealed that a popular YouTuber, PEACHII, faced a staggering bill of 4,000 baht (around $120) for a dish that's clearly listed on the menu for only 1,500 baht (about $45).

Udom Srisomsong, the deputy director-general, stated that such overpricing could lead to a fine of up to 10,000 baht. But the drama doesn't end there! Should it be confirmed that Raan Jay Fai failed to adequately display the prices for their special dishes, another fine could be slapped on the restaurant.

In a move to get to the bottom of the situation, officials are set to reach out to PEACHII, who boasts an impressive 1.6 million followers. She asserted that she hadn't ordered any extravagant add-ons or a special version of the dish, raising eyebrows about the restaurant's pricing practices.

As the investigation unfolds, the spotlight shines bright on Raan Jay Fai, a culinary gem helmed by the legendary 82-year-old chef Supinya “Jay Fai” Junsuta. Located on Mahachai Road in Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district, this eatery is famous for its high-quality street food, but could this shocking incident taint its Michelin-star reputation?
