Think you know all there is to know about the just-announced Donkey Kong Bananza? Well unless you were paying attention to the Japanese version of the Nintendo Today app, you certainly missed something. Nintendo revealed Donkey Kong Bananza for Switch 2 during their Nintendo Direct, and it’s set to launch July 17th, 2025. The title puts the revamped DK front-and-center in a 3D platformer with unique mechanics, amazing locations, and a cast of fresh characters. Turns out Nintendo has snuck an old favorite in there as well. Nintendo uploaded a unique video for Donkey Kong Bananza to the Nintendo Today app, and it was ever so slightly different from what we saw in the Nintendo Direct. In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene, Nintendo actually showcased none other than Cranky Kong in the gameplay footage. It’s an extremely odd switch, as for some reason, Nintendo showed a ostrich character (not confirmed to be Expresso) in the Nintendo Direct versions of the footage.
